This exciting journey takes you through Southern Tanzania’s most iconic parks: Nyerere National Park (Selous), Mikumi National Park, and Ruaha National Park.
During your 9-day South Tanzania Safari, you will stay in a mix of comfortable lodges and tented camps. If you prefer different accommodations, we can customize your itinerary to suit your preferences.
Your affordable 9-day South Tanzania Safari begins with a transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha (51 km). Upon arrival, you will meet our Safari Manager for a detailed briefing about your upcoming adventure.
After breakfast the following day, meet your Safari driver-guide and begin your exploration of the stunning southern parks.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport
Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR), you will be met by your Lion View Tours guide who will transfer you to your accommodation. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax and soak in the African atmosphere. Your guide will also give you a safari briefing and answer any questions you may have.
Dinner and overnight stay at Holiday Inn, Dar es Salaam. All meals included.
Day 2: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve)
After breakfast, depart for Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve) via Kisarawe, a 200 km journey. Upon arrival at your lodge, check in and prepare for an exciting sunset boat safari on the legendary Rufiji River, where you can spot hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species.
Overnight at Selous Mapumziko Lodge. All meals included.
Day 3: Full Day Game Drive in Nyerere National Park (Selous)
After breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive in Nyerere National Park. Known as the largest wildlife reserve in Africa, the park is home to elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, and the rare African wild dog. You’ll explore the diverse landscape of woodlands, savannas, and grasslands while observing the rich wildlife.
Overnight at Selous Mapumziko Lodge. All meals included.
Day 4: Nyerere National Park to Mikumi National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a walking safari through the village with a local guide, followed by a game drive across Nyerere National Park as you make your way to Mikumi National Park. Arrive in the late afternoon, check in, and relax at your camp.

Day 5: Mikumi to Ruaha National Park
After breakfast, drive to Ruaha National Park via Iringa with a packed lunch. Upon arrival, embark on an afternoon game drive in this wild, rugged park, known for its large elephant population and untamed wildlife.

Day 6: Full Day Game Drive in Ruaha National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in Ruaha National Park. Covering 20,000 square kilometers, this is Tanzania’s largest park. Explore the diverse habitats, home to elephants, lions, leopards, and rare antelopes like the greater and lesser kudu. The Great Ruaha River also supports a large number of crocodiles and hippos.

Day 7: Ruaha to Mikumi National Park
After breakfast, depart for Mikumi National Park via Iringa town, with a packed lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive through Mikumi, which is nestled between the Uluguru Mountains and the Great Rift Valley Escarpments.

Day 8: Mikumi to Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, embark on the drive back to Dar es Salaam (305 km) with a packed lunch. Along the way, stop in villages to experience local culture before arriving at your hotel in Dar es Salaam.
Overnight at Holiday Inn, Dar es Salaam City Centre.
Day 9: Departure – Julius Nyerere International Airport
Depending on your flight time, enjoy a relaxing morning at your hotel or explore a bit of Dar es Salaam with a local guide. Later, you will be transferred to Julius Nyerere International Airport for your flight to Kilimanjaro Airport and onward journey back home.
